Overview

The HIS Billing Application Specialist will be responsible for supporting the implementation, configuration, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of the Hospital Information System (HIS), with a primary focus on Patient Access, Billing and RCM. The role serves as the key liaison between business stakeholders, PAS, and RCM team and HIS vendors to ensure successful system deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement.

The specialist will participate in all phases of HIS implementation, including requirements gathering, workflow analysis, system configuration review, testing, training, go-live support, and post-implementation support. The role also involves troubleshooting application issues, managing change requests, and ensuring HIS supports patient care and operational excellence.

Job Description

Pre-Operational Phase (Implementation)

Post-Opening Phase (Operations & Support)

Lead and support HIS PAS, Billing and RCM modules implementation activities.

Provide 2nd line application support for PAS, Billing and RCM modules.

Collaborate with PAS team, billing and RCM teams, and department stakeholders to gather and document requirements.

Troubleshoot and resolve application, workflow, and integration issues.

Review and understand system configurations performed by the HIS vendor.

Manage incidents, service requests, and enhancement requests.

Participate in workflow analysis and HIS process design.

Monitor system performance and ensure application availability.

Coordinate with vendors, project teams, and healthcare departments.

Support application upgrades, patches, testing, and new releases.

Support system configuration validation, UAT, and integrated testing.

Control and participate in the application change management process.

Assist in data migration and validation activities.

Ensure data integrity and compliance with healthcare standards and policies.

Develop training materials and support end-user training.

Conduct refresher training sessions for clinical users.

Support go-live planning and stabilization activities.

Create and maintain application documentation, workflows, and knowledge base articles.

Participate in interface and integration testing with other healthcare systems.

Liaise with vendors for issue resolution and system enhancements.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer since, accounting, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 Years of experience implementing and supporting Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
  • Hands-on experience with PAS, Billing and RCM modules is required.
  • Previous HIS implementation and go-live experience is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and patient care processes.
  • Experience working in hospital environments.
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability and integration standards.
  • Experience with system testing, UAT, change management, and end-user training.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
